Diane has been a Rotarian since 1998 when she was asked to join the Rotary Club of Bracebridge.  She was a Charter Member of the Rotary Club of Bracebridge-Muskoka Lakes, Club President in 2002-2003 and past AG and Polio Plus District Chairperson for District 7010.  Diane started the HOPE bear campaign in 2002, getting her Club to sell Teddy Bears for Polio.  Her Club was written up in the Rotarian and the Century of Service for this campaign.  The results were thousands of Teddy Bears sold with the participation of 40 Clubs in Canada and the USA with one Club offshore.  Over $100,000 was raised in total through this campaign.  Her Club as known as the Teddy Bear Club and they sold different bears to raise funds for all kinds of community projects.  Diane was the recipient of the Rotary District Foundation award in 2003.  In 2010 Diane received a Rotary Foundation Regional Service Award for a Polio free world from Rotary International.  She is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, a Benefactor and a Member of the Bequest Society.

In 2009, she travelled to Ecuador with a group of Rotarians to deliver 300 wheelchairs to people there.  It was another unbelievable moment in her life to experience an international project and the people whose lives were touched.

Diane believes that Rotary is really about people, who work so hard to make a difference in their communities, both at home and around the world.  Diane has attended 2 international conventions, as well as participated in a Wheelchair Distribution in Ecuador.

Diane and her husband Bill retired to St. Thomas, Ontario, which is Bill’s hometown. Diane spent her 35 year career in Business, Banking, Finance, Accounting and HR working in both the private and corporate sector.  They love spending time with their great nieces and nephews (7 boys and 2 girls all under the age of 12).  In their spare time they enjoy travelling.

Diane believes that Rotary allows her the balance in her life between family, work and her community.  The true joy comes from doing things for others and Rotary allows us to experience that.  The other great benefit of Rotary is the chance to meet people and build friendships, whether it is in your own Club or when you are travelling to other parts of the world.  She is looking forward to getting to know so many more people in District 6330 and learning about all the wonderful things that Clubs do in their communities.
