A Final Message from Don as District Governor

Our District Conference Planning Committee has been working very hard over the past couple of years putting together an excellent and informative program for this three-day conference. As in past years, the purpose of the conference is to bring Rotarians together and celebrate our accomplishments and to discuss matters of importance to Rotarians and Rotary International. It is also another opportunity to meet new friends and become reacquainted with old friends. If you have not already done so, send in your registration to Rotary District Conference, Box 103, Walkerton, ON N0G 2V0. The brochure can be downloaded from our district website. The online registration closed on May 31st.

We have a lot to celebrate in our district this year. We have done some amazing things around the world and in our own back yards! Congratulations to you all! Rotarians have been generous in donations to the Rotary Foundation and to Polio Eradication. We can’t give up now …One challenge I have for each of our clubs …Take a look at the number of Benefactors in your club and try to increase that number as much as you can. Currently the club with the highest number of Benefactors is Fenton Rotary. Remember that funds pledged as a Benefactor go to the Endowment Fund of the Rotary Foundation. Only the interest on that money is used for Rotary programs.

As I look back on my year as your District Governor, I can say that there were many highlights. I particularly enjoyed each and every one of my visits to your clubs. Your hospitality was superb! I know that DGE Doug Burnard will enjoy the same wonderful experience!

Remember to be a R.E.D. … a Rotarian Every Day! Wear your Rotary pin with pride and if you haven’t visited other Rotary Clubs, put that on your To Do List! You won’t regret it! I can never stress enough how important it is for us in Rotary to continue the fellowship we enjoy each and every week.

As summer finally approaches, I wish all of you a safe and happy summer! Many clubs resort to having BBQs at members’ homes, and others continue on as usual. Whatever your club does in July and August, remember that there are always people in need and Rotary has always been there. Thank you for what you do in the name of Rotary ….you truly have Engaged Rotary Changed Lives!

God Bless!
