October is a busy month in Rotary as it is Vocational Service Month and many clubs are also planning to celebrate World Polio Day on October 24th via special programs or events. Clubs are urged to celebrate Vocational Service Month by discussing ethics in the workplace and sharing the happenings in the various professions represented in the Rotary clubs throughout our district. A short update of member classifications talks makes for a great program and also is of great interest and value for newer members. The diversity of professions in Rotary is one of the great assets of this organization.

Members are also urged to attend Interact and Rotaract meetings to share knowledge of their profession. World Polio Day on October 24th is a day that all Rotarians should celebrate the progress in our goal to make history and eradicate polio from our world. Perhaps one of the most encouraging news comes from Nigeria where Rotarians have been able to access all areas of the country to administer the polio vaccine and in spite of the fact that the polio virus is still endemic in the country, only 3 cases have been reported as of June 03, 2014 vs. 24 in the same period last year. The only area in the world where there has been an increase in reported cases this year is in northern Pakistan. For additional information and updates log onto www.endpolio.org

Many thanks for the warm welcome and great hospitality provided by all the clubs in District 6330 that I have visited to date. As of September 30th I have visited 51 of our 61 clubs and have been greatly impressed by the number of projects that the clubs are carrying out in their communities and internationally. These visits have been the highlight of my year as District Governor to date. The contribution that each of you do for your clubs and communities makes me proud to be a Rotarian and your Governor.

Keep up the great work as we Light up Rotary in District 6330 in 2014-2015.
