Meet Scotia!
Scotia Hutton is the new Director at the head of camp for this re-open and we are excited to welcome her to the team. Scotia is a long-time camper who started her camping journey at the age of 6 when she was a first time camper. She spent 10 years as a camper before joining the staff team at Camp Otterdale for 11 years. She was a camp counsellor, Waterfront Director, Program Director and eventually their first and only Assistant Director. Since leaving Otterdale she worked at YMCA Camp Pine Crest in Muskoka Ontario as part of the Director team for the past 5 years. While at Pine Crest she managed a staff team of roughly 140 in the summer and worked hard throughout the year to ensure high quality camp programming would be executed for their 1500+ campers throughout the summer. Scotia is passionate about the power of camp and helping campers and staff to reach their full potential.
Scotia is focused on maintaining all that is special about Presqu’ile while making changes to provide a high-quality program. With this in mind she has already made some changes to our camping sessions including introducing a 2 week session for 10-14 year old’s and incorporating a canoe trip into our leadership programs for 15 and 16 year old’s. She hopes to spend time developing out program plans that will provide a consistent program experience for campers year after year. She believes that camp should be an experience that all children have which is inline with the goal of The Rotary Club that money should never be a barrier for campers to enjoy camp.
If you know any campers who might be interested in joining us for a summer of fun visit out website for registration information. We are also looking for young adults to join our staff team and are currently hiring for summer positions. Information about both can be found here.
