District Conference - May 4-5, 2018
Embracing Change ...
... district conference registration is now closed. To the almost 300 people that are registered to attend at least parts of the conference - thank you for taking the time to learn how embracing change can help strengthen your clubs. See you this weekend at Grand Bend's famous Oakwood Resort, on the shores of Lake Huron.
Are you going to the International Convention in Toronto? Have you registered already? If you're going and haven't registered yet, do it now - you're running out of time.
Many districts, including District 6330, are participants in Rotary’s youth and young adult programs such as Interact, Rotaract, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) and Rotary Youth Exchange.
Our District Conference this weekend celebrates youth with participation by our Youth Exchange students, our Interact clubs, and our Rotaract clubs. Our Seminar for Tomorrow's Leaders is set for later this month - May 11-13 at the University of Western Ontario campus in London.
Youth service recognizes the positive change implemented by youth and young adults through leadership development activities, involvement in community and international service projects and exchange programs that enrich and foster world peace and cultural understanding.
The RI Strategic Plan encourages our clubs and districts to balance their activities in all five Avenues of Service and regarding the New Generations Avenue of Service, it acknowledges the exceptional work that Rotarians do to support youth programs.

The Community of Goderich is rich in services clubs, hosting - among others - the Lions Club, the Kinsmen and Kinettes, the Knights of Columbus, and of course, its own Rotary Club. While these clubs are welcoming to potential new members, it seems there is a noticeable absence of a club targeting the needs of the community from the perspective of young adults.
Social Media….Is it working for you? Maybe YOU need a Ken Jones!!
(story submitted by the Wiarton Rotary Club)
In 2012, the Rotary Club of Wiarton began to take a serious interest in social media. Much time and effort were invested in establishing a club website and Facebook page. Initially the investment seemed uncertain. We might get 10 or 20 people seeing our information. By 2016 we were happy to reach 500 people and were ecstatic when one message reached over 2000 people. Now, in 2018, we routinely get our important information out to over 6000 people. Almost 800 people follow everything that we post on Facebook.
The program is an effective, interactive educational talk about DRUGS and is directed towards Grade 5 students and is presented in the classroom or school auditorium.
Is your club involved - either directly, or through financial support?
A Little Club Reinvents Itself - By Emphasizing Service Over Meetings
For about a decade, the Bath Sunrise Rotary Club in District 7780 was “stuck” at a hard-core 11 members, who met regularly, did great service, but couldn’t seem to increase in number.
At the 2018 Rotary International Convention, 23-27 June, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, you will hear inspirational speeches from keynote speakers, participate in a variety of service-related breakout sessions, and make new friends in the House of Friendship.
The Zone Conference in Montreal September 18-22, 2018 is different than its predecessors - for one thing, it's now not only open to all Rotarians - all Rotarians are encouraged to attend.
You can also sponsor a young leader now to #changetheirtomorrow.
