Rotary and Stratford Perth Museum’s Dave Blackburn Memorial Shine On Car Rally was a huge success last year, welcoming more than 80 participants.

This October will mark the fifth time that people can go for a Sunday drive and enjoy a history lesson along the way – this year’s theme is Saints and Sinners.

Beginning at 10 a.m. Oct. 2, cars will head out on paved backroads of Perth County to a number of historical destinations where they will meet up with re-enactors who go into character as famous former citizens of Stratford and Perth County.

It’s the fifth annual Dave Blackburn Memorial Shine On Car Rally and it starts at the Stratford Perth Museum.

Each registrant will get a boxed lunch from the Boar’s Head Pub before departing. The rally finishes at the Boar’s Head where participants can use the $10 gift card given to each participant.

The event is organized by the Rotary Club of Stratford and the Stratford Perth Museum and presented in memory of Dave Blackburn who died in 2013. Dave was a devoted Rotarian, antique car lover and former branch manager at TD Bank in Stratford.

Some clarification, the content of the rally may be historic but your vehicle doesn’t have to be as cars, pick-up trucks, even RVs are more than welcome to take part.

Pre-registration for the rally takes place online at www.ShineOnStratford.ca. Before setting out, each vehicle will be provided a detailed navigation guide to help them find their way. The cost to take part in the car rally, including lunch, is $75 (price includes a driver and a navigator). Back seat drivers are an additional $25.
