About the Program
This year we are fortunate to have booked three amazing keynote speakers, see below. In addition, we will be featuring a series of 20 minute presentations by clubs in our district and district leaders which we are calling learning moments.
Foundation trustee Brenda and membership expert Louisa will be with us for the entire weekend so there will be plenty of time to meet and converse with them.
Dr. Bobby Makkamala
President
American Medical Association
The AMA represents more that 250,000 physicians, residents and interns in the US with the goals of providing better care at lower cost to the patients they serve. Dr. Bobby (as he likes to be called) has a moving message about how his personal experience with a severe illness affected his approach to his position.
Dr. Bobby is a head and neck surgeon who practices in his home town Flint and shares an office with his wife, an OB-GYN. He has been an active member of the Rotary Club of Flint since 2009.
Speaking Friday Evening
Brenda Cressy
Trustee,
The Rotary Foundation
Brenda began her tenure on the Rotary Foundation Board of Trustees in 2017 and became its chair in 2018. Her passion is with ending polio and she was one of the architects of the Polio Plus Society campaign. She will share with us her extensive knowledge of how our Rotary Foundation works and the status of our end-game phase of polio eradication.
Brenda and her husband Dick are Major Donors, Bequest and Paul Harris Society members and have been inducted into the Arch Klumph Society.
She has been a Rotarian since 1989.
Speaking Saturday
Louisa Horne
Membership Coordinator
Rotary International Zone 28
Those club presidents who attended last year's PELS conference in Kalamazoo, will remember Louisa for her powerful "Irresistible Clubs" presentation. As the Zone's Membership Coordinator she has learned, and will share, some great techniques for building club membership.
She has spoken district, zone and international meetings and will be with us the entire weekend to help us with membership challenges. Louisa has been a member of the Rotary Club of Halifax Harbour since 2005.
