Meet the Governor 2028-2029 - Peter Maranger

Peter Maranger is a dedicated Rotarian, business leader and enthusiastic advocate for the Stratford community. Peter joined Rotary in November 2005 and has now been a Rotarian for more than 20 years. An active member of the Rotary Club of Stratford, he served as Club President during the 2023–2024 Rotary year. He is honoured to be preparing to serve as District Governor in 2028–2029.

Peter believes that strong Rotary clubs are built through fellowship, clear communication, responsible leadership and meaningful service. Since July 2024, he has chaired the Rotary Club of Stratford’s International Service Committee. In this role, he has worked to develop a consistent and transparent framework for reviewing international funding requests and supporting sustainable projects led by Rotary clubs and trusted community partners. His committee’s work has included projects involving clean water and sanitation, education, healthcare, food security and economic development in countries including Togo, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, and Guatemala.

Clean water is especially important to Peter. During his year as Club President, he helped promote Stratford Rotary’s AQUABOX program, which assembles affordable water-filtration systems in Stratford for distribution to communities affected by natural disasters and contaminated water supplies. Peter believes the best international projects provide a hand up by combining immediate assistance with local leadership, accountability and long-term sustainability.

Peter was also actively involved in the planning and fundraising for the 2025 Rotary District 6330 Conference in Stratford. He is committed to strengthening the connection between District leadership and individual clubs so that Rotarians have greater access to training, project partnerships, fellowship and opportunities for service.

Professionally, Peter has been a Financial Advisor with Co-operators since 2003 and operates Peter Maranger & Associates Inc. in Stratford. His business provides insurance, investment and financial-planning services to individuals, families, farms and businesses. Peter’s philosophy is that a successful business also has a responsibility to strengthen the community it serves. His office supports numerous charitable organizations, community events, capital projects, sports teams and local initiatives while encouraging employees to volunteer during paid working hours.

In 2024, Peter Maranger & Associates received the Professional Award from the Stratford & District Chamber of Commerce. The award recognized the business for its professional excellence, commitment to ongoing education, high-quality client service and community involvement. In 2026, the business was also recognized by United Way Perth-Huron with a Spirit of Community Award. Peter and his team are proud supporters of United Way and many other organizations addressing mental health, housing, food security, healthcare and opportunities for people living with disabilities.

After 17 seasons and 250 episodes as the host and community producer of Rogers TV’s What’s Up Stratford, Peter retired from television in 2026. Throughout the show’s successful run, he interviewed representatives from charities, businesses, the arts, sports, government and community organizations, helping residents learn more about the people, events and issues shaping Stratford. Peter continues to serve as an emcee and supporter of community events. At his church, he assists with community meals and the Plan to Protect volunteer-screening program.

Community and family are central to Peter’s life. Peter and his wife, Beverley, established the Maranger Family Fund through the Stratford Perth Community Foundation in 2009. The unrestricted fund was created to respond to the community’s changing needs and to establish a lasting example of philanthropy for their four children and their three grandchildren.

Peter strives to live according to Rotary’s Four-Way Test and its motto of SERVICE ABOVE SELF. He considers the opportunity to serve as District Governor to be both an honour and a responsibility. Peter looks forward to listening, learning and working alongside Rotarians throughout District 6330 as they strengthen their clubs, develop future leaders and create lasting change in their communities and around the world.
